Netflix sets date for Voltron season 2

Voltran fans, young and old, can look forward to a second season of the popular reboot this winter. The series will continue after season one’s cliffhanger, but we won’t spoil any of the plot-lines for you. The second season of DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender sees the paladins scattered throughout the universe in wake of a tough battle with Zarkon, Haggar and the Galra Empire – and they are returning a lot sooner than first expected. The team will of course face new challenges as they bring mighty Voltron back together, and together they will plot to take down Zarkon once and for all. Season 2 will premiere on Netflix starting January 20, 2017.

Earlier this week at New York Comic Con, fans were treated to a sneak peek of Season 2, that video will most likely become a trailer later on down the road. At the event Netflix, joined with the the cast and crew, screened a full episode and answered fan questions. The cast and crew met with fans on the Main Stage at the Javits Center at NYCC to promote the upcoming season, and the company confirmed the premiere date for fans.

Voice actors Jeremy Shada (Lance) and Bex Taylor-Klaus (Pidge) joined executive producer Joaquim Dos Santos, co-executive producer Lauren Montgomery and story editor Tim Hedrick to tease what’s in store for Team Voltron. The cast and crew shared details about the upcoming season to the energetic and packed house, which included guest voice talent Weird Al.

A few of the topics covered were that Pidge might be a hoarder, and Lance crashes on an underwater planet in the episode “The Depths”. Fans also learned more about the Voltron Playmates Toys (revealed earlier today) coming to a store near you in January 2017 as well as the Voltron Collective.

The cast includes Kimberly Brooks, Rhys Darby, Josh Keaton, Tyler Labine, Jeremy Shada, Bex Taylor-Klaus and Steven Yeun.
