Marvel fans are most likely still enjoying the new-release of ‘Luke Cage’ on Netflix, but the popular streaming service has already begun teasing the next Marvel installment.
Called ‘Iron Fist’ the new Marvel series will eventually tie-in with the other established Marvel series on Netflix, those series being ‘Daredevil,’ ‘Jessica Jones,’ and ‘Luke Cage.’ The ideas is that these title characters will eventually form a new series called ‘The Defenders,’ which will also air on Netflix.
The popularity of The Punisher, which was featured in ‘Daredevil’ season 2, caused Marvel to expand the original idea, giving The Punisher his own spinoff series as well.
Iron Fist will star Danny Rand, made popular from his role on HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ series. The casting of Rand as ‘Iron Fist’ caused some controversy at first, as many hoped that Marvel would use the new adaptation to make the title character Asian.
In the story, fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist. The teaser trailer couldn’t be more of a tease, but we will leave it below so you don’t feel like you are missing out. The photo released today, shown above, offers the best look at the new series.
Marvel fans can set a reminder to begin streaming ‘Iron Fist’ when the series becomes available on Netflix starting March 17, 2017.
