It was announced this week by NBC that “Saturday Night Live” will kick off its upcoming 42nd season on October 1st, the series will open with guest host Margot Robbie and musical guest The Weeknd.

Robbie can currently be seen starring as Harley Quinn in the hugely successful blockbuster hit “Suicide Squad.” Two-time Grammy Award winner and Oscar nominee The Weeknd will return as the musical guest for the season premiere. His upcoming album, “Starboy” is due out November 25.

This will be the first time that Robbie has hosted SNL, the popular young actor is expected to reprise her role as Harley Quinn in a Suicide Squad spinoff for Warner Bros. Pictures sometime in the future. While the studio has expressed interest in making the film, no director has been named at this time.

Robbie will also star in ‘Terminal,’ which was written and directed by Vaughn Stein. She will share the screen with Simon Pegg and Matthew Lewis in that project. Also on-deck for the actor is an Untitled A.A. Milne Project, and she is currently lending her voice to the Chris Miller, Tim Minchin film ‘Larrikins.’ The animated comedy will also feature the voices of Rose Byrne and Hugh Jackman.
