Kate Beckinsale returns in first ‘Underworld: Blood Wars’ trailer

The first trailer for ‘Underworld: Blood Wars’ was released from the studio today, once again featuring Kate Beckinsale as Selene the slayer. Blood Wars will be the next installment in the long-running franchise, the film follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her.  With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.
 
This installment was directed by Anna Foerster, working off a screenplay written by Cory Goodman and Jayson Rothwell. The story was created by Cory Goodman as well, and based off the characters that were created by Kevin Grevioux, Len Wiseman and Danny McBride. Joining Kate Beckinsale and Theo James in the new project are Lara Pulver, Tobias Menzies James Faulkner, Chales Dance and Bradley James. Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, Len Wiseman, Richard Wright and David Kern produced the film, with Eric Reid, James McQuaide, Skip Williamson and Henry Winterstern serving as executive producers.

Fans of the series will have to wait a few months before the big premiere. Sony Pictures will release ‘Underworld: Blood Wars’ in theaters on January 6, 2017.
