Lionsgate’s hosted the premiere of ‘Mechanic: Resurrection’ this week. The cast and crew of the new action-thriller hit the red-carpet to talk about the new project, which launched into theaters nationwide this weekend. Stars of the film were on-hand in L.A. to meet with fans and talk about their characters. Jason Statham attended, along with Jessica Alba, and the film’s director Dennis Gansel. Also featured in the film are Tommy Lee Jones and Michelle Yeoh. In “Mechanic Ressurection” Arthur Bishop [played by Jason Statham] returns as the Mechanic, this is a follow-up sequel to the popular 2011 action-thriller. When the deceitful actions of a cunning but beautiful woman [played by Jessica Alba] force him to return to the life he left behind, Bishop’s life is once again in danger as he has to complete an impossible list of assassinations of the most dangerous men in the world.
As we mentioned earlier, the film was directed by Dennis Gansel, working off a screenplay written by Philip Shelby and Tony Mosher. The film is based on the original story written Philip Shelby, and includes the characters created by Lewis John Carlino.
John Thompson, Robert Earl, David Winkler and William Chartoff produced the film.
The original film was called “Mechanic,” and that installment was directed by Simon West. Richard Wenk and Lewis John Carlino wrote the screenplay to the original. The original also starred Jason Statham, in that film he shared the screen with Ben Foster, Donald Sutherland and Mini Anden.
