A&E sets premiere date for The Killing of JonBenét: The Truth Uncovered

Earlier in the summer we reported that A&E would be producing a new documentary surrounding the open murder-case of JonBenét Ramsey. Now the network has confirmed a premiere date, and has previewed a few of the details that the documentary will focus on.

The network will release the documentary on the murder, which happened almost twenty-years ago, and will reveal details and interviews that were taken during the investigation of the murder of the child beauty queen. The doc will be called “The Killing of JonBenét: The Truth Uncovered,” and it will be a two-hour special airing on Monday, September 5 at 9PM ET/PT.

The network describes the documentary stating, “On the morning of December 26, 1996, parents John and Patsy Ramsey awoke to find a ransom note for their missing 6-year-old daughter JonBenét before discovering her brutally beaten and lifeless body in the basement of their home. Despite media storms, family accusations, false confessions, intruder theories and several grand jury hearings, the case has been unsolved for 20 years.”

A&E has promised to reveal “never-before-seen case details,” which include Burke Ramsey’s 1998 interview tape detailing his first-hand account of the events at that time, organized by the District Attorney’s office and never aired publically, accompanied by new analysis from an independent child psychologist.

The special will also feature the first sit-down interview with John Ramsey marking the 20th anniversary of the crime. Ramsey shares unprecedented access to his diaries at the time of the murder, which are shared in the documentary and interviews. The network also states that he shares his “thoughts and feeling from him and Patsy at a level he never has before”. This also includes “exclusive and shocking DNA evidence,” that may shed light on “who actually committed the murder”. This according to the network.

‘The Killing of JonBenét: The Truth Uncovered’ is produced by Mills Productions for A&E Network. Executive producers for Mills Productions are David Mills and Janet Taylor. Executive producers for A&E Network are Elaine Frontain Bryant and Laura Fleury.
