Fans of The Walking Dead and Doctor Who won’t want to miss New York Comic-Con this year. ReedPOP, the producers behind New York Comic Con, announced they will be presenting exclusive panels and other programming at The Theater at Madison Square Garden for the annual event. This isn’t the first time that NYCC has expanded beyond the Javits Center. Since space has always been a bit of an issue here in NYC, the popular event has had to stretch out across the island to make room for all that pop-culture has to offer.

Thanks to the added breathing room brought on by the expansion, attendees will have access to some of the biggest film and television programming at the new location, including celebrity panels, one of a kind Q&As and an exclusive first looks at upcoming fall shows. The theater will open its doors to fans on October 7th and 8th, and will feature programming from various studios and networks including AMC, BBC America and many more to be announced.

The weekend of “NYCC Programming at The Theater at Madison Square Garden” will kick-off Friday, October 7th with a BBC AMERICA panel block featuring Doctor Who. Attending this year is star Peter Capaldi, making his NYCC debut along with the first ever fan appearance by new co-star Pearl Mackie. They will be joined by showrunner and executive producer; ahead of its October 22 premiere on BBCA. On October 8th Doctor Who fans will want to return for first ever US panel with the cast, executive producer and creator of BBCA’s new Doctor Who spin-off series Class.

NYCC will also host the world premiere screening of BBC AMERICA’s new original series Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency followed by a panel with cast, showrunner, and writer and executive producer.

Also on Saturday, New York Comic Con will take over the Theater at Madison Square Garden with special programming including AMC’s The Walking Dead Panel, where the cast and producers will discuss the shocking finale of season 6 as well as show a sneak peek into season 7. Additional events and Panels will be announced in the coming months.

“New York Comic Con has become a premier destination for some of the world’s most creative studios and it only made sense to showcase them at one of the world’s premier venues – The Theater at Madison Square Garden,” said Lance Fensterman, Global Senior Vice President of ReedPOP. “This expansion adds to New York Comic Con’s evolution of expanding into New York City and brings our passionate Fans the opportunity to see different, unique content all across Manhattan during New York Comic Con.”

The Theater at Madison Square Garden joins a lineup of previously announced venues for both NYCC and NYCC Presents events throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn as ReedPOP continues to take over NYC including, Hammerstein Ballroom, Hudson Mercantile, Rock Bar NYC and Littlefield.
