With “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” capturing the attention of fans across the globe, the world has once again fallen victim to Pottermania. Susan L. Jurevics, the Chief Executive Officer of Pottermore, announced today the publication of Pottermore Presents, a series of eBook shorts featuring stories and J.K. Rowling’s first-person reflections about the wizarding world.
The first three eBooks, which focus on the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, will be published by Pottermore on 6 September and are available for preorder now from leading digital book retailers around the world.
Pottermore Presents is a collection of J.K. Rowling’s writing that originally published on pottermore.com, as well as new work. Each eBook short is approximately 10,000 words long. The thematically curated collections will be available in eight languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish. The eBooks are designed for readers seeking short content that can be read easily in about an hour on mobile phones, tablets, dedicated e-reading devices and computers.
“Pottermore Presents is intended to supplement the Harry Potter book series with short-form content that is entertaining and thematically curated by the Pottermore editorial team,” said Jurevics. “The eBooks will delight readers as they take them beyond the Harry Potter stories and deeper into the wizarding world. J.K. Rowling’s writing in these collections reveals intricate details of her characters’ lives, their histories, as well as her inspiration.”
One of the first three titles available in the Pottermore Presents collection is called Short Stories from Hogwarts: Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists. This collection features exclusive new writing about Horace Slughorn, Harry Potter’s portly Potions Master together with writing published on pottermore.com. It also includes writing about other important characters like Dolores Umbridge and Quirinus Quirrell. The stories are linked by themes of temptation, power, mischief and villainy, and provide a window into the darker side of the wizarding world.
Short Stories from Hogwarts: Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies profile two of the Harry Potter stories’ most courageous and iconic characters: Minerva McGonagall and Remus Lupin. It also offers never-before-published writing by J.K. Rowling about Professor McGonagall’s role in the second wizarding war together with writing featured on pottermore.com. There will also be Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide. Entries are focused on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a place of almost boundless mystery and magic. Readers will venture to the Hogwarts grounds, become better acquainted with its more permanent residents, discover its secrets, its hidden rooms and corridors… all at the turn of a page.
Each eBook short will be priced at 1.99 GBP, 2.99 EU and 2.99 USD, and sold at the Pottermore Shop and through other leading digital book retailers like Amazon.com.
