A new original series is coming to FYI this fall. The network has greenlit “Downtown Shabby,” from 3 Ball Entertainment, the series was announced this week by Gena McCarthy, EVP of Programming and Development for FYI. Production has already begun on eight one-hour episodes, with the series slated to premiere in Fall 2016.
According to the network’s announcements, the show will be based on restoring beautiful homes that have fallen into disrepair. The vintage homes often times hold hide dark secrets like dry rot, to weak foundations, or feature cramped designs or even termite infestations. In “Downtown Shabby,” renovation and design experts, Frank and Sherry Fontana, will take these homes and renovate, remodel and ultimately revive them into modern masterpieces.
“Frank and Sherry are proven talent in the home renovation space and will bring their passion for property preservation to this new series,” said McCarthy. “Downtown Shabby’ will capture huge renovations, unexpected challenges and stunning reveals.”
True Value will be integrated into each episode of the series and will help drive the design aesthetic of the transformed historic homes. The robust partnership will also include custom short form content, on-air segments offering viewers inspirational take-away on featured projects, co-branded cross promotion and more.
While keeping an eye towards the charm and class of the original home, Frank and Sherry will modernize every aspect of the interior, from opening the floor plan to installing the latest cutting edge technology. The series will also document the lives of the homeowners as they remain in the homes throughout the renovation process.
