Lifetime begins production on JonBenet Ramsey movie

It was announced this week that Lifetime has begun production on Who Killed JonBenet? (which is a wt), an original movie about the disturbing true story of JonBenet Ramsey. The story will recount the death of the six-year-old beauty queen, whose murder in her Colorado home remains unsolved.

Lifetime also announced the casting for the production, but did not set a premiere date at this time. Marking 20 years since her body was found, Who Killed JonBenet? stars Eion Bailey (Band of Brothers), Michel Gill (Mr. Robot) and Julia Campbell (Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion). Lifetime simply stated that the movie will premiere “later this fall” on Lifetime.

Who Killed JonBenet? revisits the infamous murder of pint-sized beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey (Payton Lepinski) and the lurid details that captivated the nation. Starting with the 911 call and investigation lead by Detective Steve Thomas (Bailey), Who Killed JonBenet? provides a closer look into what exactly happened the day after Christmas 1996, when she was found beaten and strangled in the family’s basement. With the addition of recently surfaced information, the film takes a fresh look at the events and the competing theories about the murder. Were Patsy (Campbell) and John (Gill) Ramsey responsible or covering for someone else in the family? Was this a kidnapping gone wrong, or was this the work of a predator who had seen JonBenet in one of her pageants? Twenty years after the tragic events, the question remains: Who killed JonBenet?

Who Killed JonBenet? is produced by EveryWhere Studios and Brightlights for Lifetime. Julia Eisenman (Lies & Alibis), Tom Mazza (My Sweet Audrina), Anne Carlucci (Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story), Shawn Williamson (Wayward Pines) and Jamie Goehring (Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart) executive producing. Jason Lapeyre (Restless Virgins) is directing from a script written by Brian L. Ross (Love by Chance).
