Matt Damon fights monsters in first “The Great Wall” trailer
Legendary Pictures released the first trailer for “The Great Wall,” a new action-thriller set to hit theaters in 2017. The film has an impressive team behind it, starring Matt Damon, the film was directed by Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers).
The trailer is mostly a tease for the monsters that China is trying to keep from their lands. The Great Wall tells the story of an elite force making a valiant stand for humanity on the world’s most iconic structure. This marks the first English-language production for Yimou, and is the largest film ever shot entirely in China.
Joining Damon in the film are Pedro Pascal (of Game of Thrones fame) Willem Dafoe, Hanyu Zhang, Eddie Peng, Lu Han, Kenny Lin, Junkai Wang, Zheng Kai, Cheney Chen, Xuan Huang and Andy Lau.
While Yimou sits in the director’s chair, the film is based on a story written by Max Brooks, Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz. Yimou worked from a screenplay written by Carlo Bernard, Doug Miro and Tony Gilroy. The film was produced by Thomas Tull, Charles Roven, Jon Jashni and Peter Loehr, with Jillian Share, Alex Gartner, La Peikang, Zhang Zhao and E. Bennett Walsh serving as Executive Producers.
While you only get a tease of the giant lizards for now, the film will reveal all of its secrets on February 17, 2017 when it hits theaters. The film will also be released in 3D and assumably IMAX.
