Sony Pictures is making a Trainspotting sequel, it’s just a few decades later than anyone would have expected. The studio released a teaser-trailer over the weekend while announcing the new film. The original was directed by Danny Boyle, based on the novel written by Irvine Welsh. The screenplay was written by John Hodge and the film hit theaters back in 1996.

The original was a launching point for several major stars including Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle to name a few. The new installment will have Danny Boyle reuniting with the original cast, which once again will include Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle.

Sony was a little vague with the exact details of the new film, but did release the following teaser trailer to get fans of the first installment excited for the follow-up.

While plot-lines are being kept under-wraps at the moment, Sony Pictures did announce a release window for the new film. Trainspotting 2 will hit theaters in February 2017. While the teaser, is just a teaser, Sony is expected to announce additional castings and offer a proper trailer for the film over the next few months. Until then, you should watch the original again, and choose life.
