A new hero will be stepping into the Iron Man suit when the “Invincible Iron Man” hits comic-book stores later this year. Marvel announced today a new series launching as part of the Marvel NOW! universe, featuring the first black female to take the role in the iconic suit. The news was announced with creator Brian Michael Bendis and artist Stefano Caselli, who introduced Marvel’s newest hero. The character is named Riri Williams, and she seems pretty fantastic already.

According to today’s announcements, Riri Williams will take the role at some point during Civil War II, becoming the latest Iron Man herro in the long-running series. Marvel detailed the change saying, “Reverse-engineering her own set of armor to make the world a better place, Riri will lead the charge as Iron Man! Well, for now.” The publisher also teases fans with a few questions stating, “But what has become of Tony Stark? What could have happened during Civil War II to make him hang up the repulsors?”

“We’re in the middle of a very big Tony Stark storyline – actually three storylines converging,” says Brian Michael Bendis, speaking with TIME. “His best friend died, his company is collapsing and he’s finding out who his biological parents were all at the same time. How that all shakes out such that Tony is no longer in the armor? You’ll have to wait to find out for the end of Civil War II. But it does create a path for Riri Williams, who Tony will know and will be interacting with very shortly in the comics.”

It’s unlikely that Tony Stark will die in Civil War II, though in the comic-world that could very-much happen to any of the Avengers, so let’s not rule it out entirely. As for now, fans will just have to wait for the big issue to hit stands across the country. INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #1 will be coming to comic shops and digital devices everywhere this fall. As we stated earlier, the first issue was written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS, with art by STEFANO CASELLI.
