MTV to bring Teen Wolf, The Shannara Chronicles and Fandom to SDCC
MTV has revealed its plans for San Diego Comic-Con this year, making sure to put one of its biggest shows front-and-center for fans. The network will be bringing the cast of the hit drama series “Teen Wolf” to the event, celebrating the upcoming season. This marks the seventh trip that Teen Wolf has made to SDCC since its debut on MTV. The network will also be continuing the “MTV Fandom Fest” and “MTV Fandom Awards.” If you are going to SDCC, be on the lookout for the branded MTV booth, it will be giving fans an all-new interactive VR experience on the floor of the San Diego Convention Center.
The network’s branded booth (Booth Number 3729) will offer “Teen Wolf” enthusiasts an interactive Virtual Reality activation using first-to-market gaze-activated technology. Fans will have the opportunity to meet and get autographs from a slew of MTV talent from “Teen Wolf” and “The Shannara Chronicles” set to stop by. Exclusive swag will be handed out throughout weekend including MTV portable chairs, MTV iFans, “Teen Wolf” fangs plus posters for both series, and other prizes.
If you need to set a few reminders, the whole MTV trip starts on Thursday, July 21 with the “Teen Wolf” Panel at 4:30pm in Ballroom 20. “Teen Wolf” cast members and executive producer Jeff Davis will be attending, with a few surprises to share with fans. The pack will reveal an exclusive first-look Season 6 trailer, share shocking revelations for the upcoming season and answer fan questions. Entertainment Weekly’s resident “Teen Wolf” expert Samantha Highfill will moderate the panel discussion and fan Q&A.
The “MTV Fandom Fest” and “MTV Fandom Awards” start at 6:30pm in Petco Park. Now in its third year, the “MTV Fandom Awards” honors the fans whose tenacious excitement pushes movies, TV, music, theater and video games from subculture to mainstream worldwide success. On Thursday, July 21 all Comic-Con badge holders are welcomed to join the “MTV Fandom Fest” party at Petco Park, featuring food, drinks, games and giveaways beginning at 6:30 p.m. PT and leading into the 8:00 p.m. PT taping of the “MTV Fandom Awards.”
The show will air on Sunday, July 24 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Voting is currently open at fandomawards.mtv.com. Nominees for “Fandom of the Year” will feature 32 nominees going head-to-head across multiple platforms in a special social tournament spanning movies, TV dramas, TV comedies and, for the first time ever, video games. The nominees for “Ship of the Year,” will be voted on exclusively on Tumblr.
“Teen Wolf” was developed by Jeff Davis (creator, “Criminal Minds”) who also serves as executive producer. Additional executive producers include Russell Mulcahy (“Highlander,” “Resident Evil: Extinction”), Joe Genier, Marty Adelstein (“Prison Break”), René Echevarria (“Medium,” “Castle”), Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley. The pilot was written by Jeff Davis and Jeph Loeb & Matthew Weisman and directed by Russell Mulcahy. The “Teen Wolf” series is based on a Screenplay by Jeph Loeb & Matthew Weisman.
