Out with the old and in with the new, that’s the popular saying that BBC America will be implementing at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con event. Despite how popular the BBC’s drama “Orphan Black” is with fans, the team behind the series has decided that the fifth-season will be its last. Although the end is near for the show, the network is giving the cast and crew another go at SDCC to celebrate the end with fans.
It was confirmed earlier this month that BBC America’s award-winning original series Orphan Black had been renewed for a fifth and final season, which will be the center of the discussions when the series returns to San Diego on Friday, July 22 for a final Comic-Con farewell panel with fans. While saying goodbye is always hard, BBCA will also be giving fans a chance to celebrate a new show with the first ever panel for its next original series, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. The panel will be held on Saturday, July 23, with stars Elijah Wood, Samuel Barnett, Hannah Marks, Jade Eshete, lead writer and executive producer Max Landis and showrunner Robert Cooper. The series’ world premiere is set for October 22 on BBC AMERICA.
The BBC America Orphan Black panel will be held on Friday, July 22 at 4:30pm in room Room # 6BCF if you are attending and would like to set a reminder. Attending the event will be Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Tatiana Maslany (Sarah and the Leda clones), Jordan Gavaris (Felix), Kristian Bruun (Donnie), Kevin Hanchard (Art), as well as co-creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson. They will be joined by this year’s moderator Comedy Bang! Bang! host Scott Aukerman. According to the network, they will be looking back at the entire series and offer clues to what’s next for the Clone Club.
As for Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, BBC America will host the event on Saturday, July 23 at 4:00pm in Room # 6BCF. Attending that event are stars Elijah Wood (Wilfred), Samuel Barnett (Penny Dreadful), Hannah Marks (The Amazing Spiderman), Jade Eshete (Dead Beat), lead writer and executive producer Max Landis (Chronicle, American Ultra) and showrunner Robert Cooper (Stargate Atlantis, Stargate Universe).
The network will offer a “first look” at the new series, which comes from the producers of The Walking Dead, and is set to premiere on October 22, 2016. An adaptation from famed author of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams – Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency follows the bizarre adventures of eccentric detective Dirk Gently (Barnett) and his reluctant assistant Todd (Wood), as they wend their way through an insane mystery; crossing unlikely paths with a bevy of wild and dangerous characters, each episode landing them a few random steps closer to uncovering the truth. BBCA’s Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency is an eight-part co-production of AMC Studios, IDEATE MEDIA and IDW Entertainment with Circle of Confusion producing.
