Battlefront Bespin DLC gets July release date
After months of waiting, Battlefront players will finally get to travel to Cloud City in the new Bespin DLC, expected to release by the end of the month. EA and DICE have released a few new details from the expansion, which will include new maps, weapons, challenges and heroes.
As reported earlier this year, smuggler Lando Calrissian and bounty hunter Dengar will both be included in the new DLC when it’s released. The content will be free with the season-pass, but you can pick it up through PSN, Xbox Live or Origin as well.
Lando and Dengar will both come with new traits to air your team in battle. EA stated that Dengar carries the DLT-19, while Lando will also carry a blaster. EA stated that Lando’s true calling, “comes from knowing the odds and using tricks against his enemies,” but stopped short of detailing the new traits exactly. Players will also get to travel in the new cloud car vehicle, which will take them through through Cloud City and into the Administrator’s Palace.
If you’re looking for new weapons, Bespin’s digital expansion will offer two new blasters to test out. In today’s announcement EA stated, “No matter your preference of short or long range combat, there will be something new to try out in Cloud City.”
The publisher also added, “Hunt enemies within the Bioniip Laboratories or carbon-freezing chambers with the new X-8 Night Sniper and EE-4 blasters.”
For the last few months players have simply had to rely on the “Summer 2016” graphic in the game’s menu as their only source for a release date, but now the company is ready to commit.
The Star Wars Battlefront Bespin digital expansion pack will be available to Season Pass owners two weeks early, starting June 21st.
This comes just before E3 2016, which will most likely have EA announcing the next installment to the Battlefront series. The new game is expected to draw settings and characters from the rebooted franchise, which is expected to include characters from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and perhaps “Star Wars: Rogue One”.
More information on that new game, which is expected to release holiday 2017, is expected to be announced at E3 this year. Until then, players can look forward to the Bespin DLC and the fourth DLC offering which will launch this winter.
