Daisy Ridley practicing her lightsaber skills will make your day
It’s hard not to enjoy everything that Daisy Ridley does, even when it’s not on the big-screen. The actor recently became a household name playing the role of Rey in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” and this week she posted a short video of herself practicing her Jedi skills.
Ridley shared the video below on Facebook saying, “So @liangstunts (TRAITOR) is WUSHU FRICKING MASTER and I always try to get him to teach me things… This was today!!!” Ridley went on to say, “Obvs not great but HE’S amazing and he’s also featured at the end our stunt team are the most incredible group of people, so lucky I get to train with them!”
The entire crew is already hard at work on the next installment of the series, currently called “Star Wars: Episode VIII,” the film will get an official title as we get closer to the premiere.
The new film will be directed by Rian Johnson, who also write the screenplay. The film of course is based on the characters created by George Lucas. Daisy Ridley will return with Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and John Boyega. It was confirmed earlier this year that Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern will be joining the cast.
Fans won’t have to wait too long before the next “Star Wars” film hits theaters. Premiering later this year is “Star Wars: Rogue One,” the first stand-alone Star wars film outside of the new trilogy to hit theaters.
Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Monsters) is directing Rogue One, which tells the story of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star. The film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy and is slated for a December 16, 2016 release.
“Rogue One takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and will be a departure from the saga films but have elements that are familiar to the Star Wars universe,” Kathleen Kennedy announced at the begining of production. “It goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know. Gareth is such an innovative director and I’m so excited to be working with him and the extraordinary ensemble cast he’s selected for ‘Rogue One.’”
That film stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk and Riz Ahmed.
