CBS announces renewals including “Blue Bloods” and “Mom”
CBS has confirmed a new list of renewals this week for the upcoming 2016-2017 season, leaving only a handful of series waiting in the wings.
On the list are the hard-hitting regulars on the network including “Blue Bloods,” “Mom” and “Madam Secretary”. The sleuthing “Elementary” did manage to get renewed, though the show’s ratings have been dwindling at the late Sunday night time-slot. “2 Broke Girls” also made the list this week, though it too has been struggling to attract new viewers.
“Hawaii Five-0” will be coming back for a brand-new season thanks to a renewal, as will both “NCIS Los Angeles” and “NCIS New Orleans”. As one of the newer series on the network, fans of “Scorpion” should be happy to know that the show will be coming back for another season, as will the original “NCIS” and the biggest hit of them all – “The Big Bang Theory”.
On the reality TV slate both “The Amazing Race” and “Survivor” have been renewed, but that does leave a few shows without renewals at this point in time.
“Criminal Minds” isn’t on the list, but it would be surprising if the show isn’t renewed. The series did get a spin-off called “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders,” and the network could be deciding if it will keep both of the shows based on the spin-off’s performance.
That just leaves “CSI: Cyber” and “The Odd Couple,” both of which have been steady, but not thrilling, performers on the network. CBS will announce whether or not those series will be coming back over the next few weeks.
