“Sky” grew in popularity after becoming an official selection of the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. The film’s high-profile cast helped make the film stand-out among buyers, which lead IFC Films to pick-up the project with plans to release it later this month.

In the film Romy (Diane Kruger) and Richard (Gilles Lellouche) are a French couple on vacation in America. They play at being free and wild in the California desert, but can’t escape the shadow hanging over their relationship. A drunken night in a bar leads to a violent confrontation, and Romy sees a chance to remake her life.

Joining Kruger and Lellouche in the film are Joshua Jackson as a small-town police officer, Norman Reedus as a loner living on the Vegas strip, and Lena Dunham as a pregnant trailer-park resident.

The film was directed by Fabienne Berthaud, working off a script co-written by Berthaud and Pascal Arnold.

The drama will be released right here in NYC as a limited showing on April 15, 2016. The film will also be released on VOD the same day. A theatrical rollout will follow after that.
