Kate Beckinsale, Chloë Sevigny star in “Love and Friendship” trailer
Amazon Studios and Roadside Attractions released the first trailer for “Love and Friendship” this afternoon. The film, written and directed by Whit Stillman, stars Kate Beckinsale, Chloë Sevigny and Xavier Samuel.
The film was quickly picked up after hitting the film-festival market earlier this year. “Love and Friendship” was an official Selection of the 2016 Sundance Film Festival in the ‘Premiere’ Category.
If you are a fan of Jane Austen, then you may notice that the film is based on one of her more popular works. The story is based on novella “Lady Susan,” which was published in 1871.
In the film, a beautiful young widow (Lady Susan Vernon) travels to the estate of her in-laws. While under the guise of a simple family visit, Lady Sudan is actually looking for a pair of husbands.
Her plan is to not only find a suitable husband for herself, but also arrange a husband for her eligible but reluctant daughter, Frederica. This hunt brings up three prospects, the handsome Reginald DeCourcy, the rich but odd Sir James Martin and the divinely handsome (but already married) Lord Manwaring.
Amazon Studios and Roadside Attractions will release LOVE & FRIENDSHIP in theaters on May 13, 2016
