Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth are returning for the third-installment of the long-running “Bridget Jones” franchise. Universal Pictures released the following first-look teaser today, offering a glimpse of the awkward situations and romantic entanglements that Bridget Jones will get into this time.
The romantic-comedy has a very well-rounded cast behind it including Patrick Dempsey, Jim Broadbent, Gemma Jones and Emma Thompson. The film is of course based on the set of novels written by Helen Fielding, who wrote the new installment with Emma Thompson and Dan Mazer.
Once again Oscar winners Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth will return to their characters, but as we mentioned before, they are joined by Patrick Dempsey.
After breaking up with Mark Darcy (Firth), Bridget Jones’s (Zellweger) “happily ever after” hasn’t quite gone according to plan. Fortysomething and single again, she decides to focus on her job as top news producer and surround herself with old friends and new. For once, Bridget has everything completely under control. The studio teases, ” What could possibly go wrong?”
As expected, Jones’ love life takes a turn and Bridget meets a dashing American named Jack (Dempsey), the suitor who is everything Mr. Darcy is not. In an unlikely twist she finds herself pregnant, but with one hitch…she can only be fifty percent sure of the identity of her baby’s father.
The much-anticipated third installment of the Bridget Jones’s franchise welcomes fellow Academy Award winner Emma Thompson to the cast. Longtime collaborators Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films produce alongside Debra Hayward. Universal Pictures will distribute Bridget Jones’s Baby in North America and select international territories.
“Bridget Jones Baby” was directed by Sharon Maguire, and produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Debra Hayward. The executive producers were Amelia Granger and Liza Chasin.
