Production on the set of the next “Maze Runner” installment has come to a stop after the star of the franchise was injured during filming this week. According to early reports, O’Brien was hit by a car and sustained several major injuries while filming. Reports of the injuries vary at this time, with TMZ reporting that O’Brien could have “multiple broken bones”.

What has been confirmed, at this time, is that while filming “The Maze Runner: The Death Cure” star Dylan O’Brien was injured in an accident on set, forcing production to stop as O’Brien was then taken to the hospital. Dylan remains in that hospital at this time.

At 24, O’Brien’s injuries will force a delay in production of the film, which is set to release in 2017.

“The Maze Runner: The Death Cure” was filming in British Columbia when the accident occurred, Wes Ball is currently directing the third installment to the popular YA franchise.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on February 17, 2017. In the movie, O’Brien’s character Thomas embarks on a mission to find a cure to a deadly disease known as the “Flare.”

The studio released the following statement after news of the accident hit the press. FOX stated, “Dylan O’Brien was injured yesterday while filming Maze Runner: The Death Cure in Vancouver, Canada. He was immediately transferred to a local hospital for observation and treatment. Production on the film will be shut down while he recovers. Our thoughts go out to Dylan for a full and speedy recovery.”
