The long-running “Divergent” franchise held the NYC premiere of the latest film “Allegiant” this week. The latest installment is part-one of a two-part finale, the series has been going strong since the first Divergent film released back in 2014.

The cast and crew, dressed almost completely in black, attended the event in our fair city. Among those in attendance were the two stars of the series, Shailene Woodley and Theo James. Joining them on the red-carpet were Jeff Daniels, Octavia Spencer, Ray Stevenson, Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, Bill Skarsgård and Naomi Watts.

This installment was directed by Robert Schwentke, working off a screenplay written by Noah Oppenheim, Adam Cooper, Bill Collage and Stephen Chbosky. The film is based on the novel “Allegiant” written by the popular YA author Veronica Roth. The film was produced by Douglas Wick, Lucy Fisher and Pouya Shahbazian.

As the stars prepare for their final role, this marks the first half of the climactic end of the franchise. The third installment of the blockbuster Divergent series franchise, ALLEGIANT takes Tris [Shailene Woodley] and Four [Theo James] into a new world, far more dangerous than ever before.

After the earth-shattering revelations of INSURGENT, Tris must escape with Four and go beyond the wall enclosing Chicago. For the first time ever, they will leave the only city and family they have ever known. Once outside, old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless with the revelation of shocking new truths. Tris and Four must quickly decide who they can trust as a ruthless battle ignites beyond the walls of Chicago which threatens all of humanity. In order to survive, Tris will be forced to make impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice and love.

Fans only have a few more days of waiting before “Allegiant” hits theaters. The film is set to hit local theaters on March 18, 2016.
