Frigid temperatures, storms and a popular holiday weren’t enough to keep moviegoers from the box-office this weekend. There were three new-releases that hit theaters this week, including the highly-anticipated release of “Deadpool” from FOX. The other major-films to release this week are “How to be Single” and the follow-up comedy “Zoolander 2”.

Taking the top-spot over this Valentine’s Day weekend was “Deadpool” with $135M, a much-needed win for FOX after its disastrous “Fantastic Four” reboot last year. The film opened across 3,558 locations to take the number-one spot on the domestic charts. Tim Miller directed “Deadpool” with character writers Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza attached to the project. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin and T.J. Miller.

Dropping from first to second was “Kung Fu Panda 3,” also from Fox with $19.65M. The film remained in 3,844 locations and has reached $94M in just three-weeks. The film was directed by Alessandro Carloni and Jennifer Yuh, and was written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger. Voicing characters in the film are Jack Black, Bryan Cranston, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen. Luc Liu, Kate Hudson, David Cross, Jackie Chan and J.K. Simmons.

The comedy “How to be Single” from Warner Bros. Pictures brought in $18.75M this weekend to reach third-place overall. The film debuted this week in 3,343 locations. “How to be Single” was directed by Christian Ditter, working off a screenplay written by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein. Joining Dakota Johnson in the film are Rebel Wilson and Leslie Mann.

Debuting in fourth-place was “Zoolander 2” which was directed by Ben Stiller, who also stars in the film. The comedy managed to bring in $15.65M for Paramount Pictures despite horrid reviews. The comedy opened across 3,394 locations in its opening week but failed to break the top-three. The script was written by Justin Theroux and Ben Stiller. Owen Wilson and Penélope Cruz also star in “Zoolander 2”.

“The Revenant,” yet another Fox release, had a $6.9M weekend to land in fifth-place overall. The Oscar hopeful managed to remain in the top-five this weekend, despite its lengthy stay in theaters. The film was shown in 2,266 locations this week and has now grossed over $159M in just eight-weeks. “The Revenant” was directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. The director also co-wrote the screenplay with Mark L. Smith. “The Revenant” stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter.
