“The Invitation” trailer welcomes friends paranoia and suspense to dinner
It’s hard not to think back on the horror-thriller classic “House on Haunted Hill” when dealing with strange dinner guests, odd party invitations and a chilling sense of dread, but “The Invitation” looks to be a much darker film.
Drafthouse Films released the first trailer for the film earlier today, showing off the intense psychological thriller from director Karyn Kusama (Girlfight, Jennifer’s Body).
The film is set to release on April 8, 2016 (both in theaters & on VOD). Starring in the film are Logan Marshall-Green, Tammy Blanchard, Michiel Huisman, Emayatzy Corinealdi and John Carroll Lynch.
Karyn Kusama directed the film, working off a script written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. Producing credits go to Martha Griffin, Matt Mandfredi, Phil Hay and Nick Spicer.
In this new psychological thriller, the studio teases the story stating, “the tension is palpable when Will (Logan Marshall-Green, Prometheus) shows up to his ex-wife Eden (Tammy Blanchard, Into the Woods) and new husband, David’s (Michiel Huisman, “Game of Thrones”) dinner party.” The description goes on to read, “The pair’s tragic past haunts an equally spooky present: Amid Eden’s suspicious behavior and her mysterious house guests, Will becomes convinced that his invitation was extended with a hidden agenda.”
The film takes place over just one-night in the Hollywood Hills, but The Invitation blurs layers of mounting paranoia, mystery, and horror.
