Super Bowl trailers: X-Men Apocalypse prepares for the end

The next installment in the “X-Men” franchise is just a few months away. FOX released a brand-new trailer for fans during this weekend’s Super Bowl, offering new footage from the highly anticipated film.

“X-MEN Apocalypse” will serve as the follow-up to the hit “X-Men: Days of Future Past”. The new installment was directed by Bryan Singer, who has proven to be quite popular with fans.

The studio teases, “Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible.”

In the film, after awakening from his thousands of years hibernation, Apocalypse is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants. This includes a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), that he uses to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.

As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

With Bryan Singer as the director, Simon Kinberg, Hutch Parker and Lauren Shuler Donner produced the film. Simon Kinberg wrote the screenplay, based on a story written by Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Michael Dougherty & Dan Harris.

Joining James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence in the new film are Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne and Olivia Munn. The film will also feature Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Lucas Till, Josh Helman, Lana Condor and Ben Hardy.
