The long-awaited follow up to “Independence Day” released a new trailer during Super Bowl 50 this weekend. The studio is calling the new installment, “the next epic chapter,” promising to deliver “global spectacle on an unimaginable scale.”

In the film humanity uses recovered alien technology, and after uniting the nations of Earth, create an immense defense program to protect the planet. Even with the new defense to protect them from another alien attack, it seems that nothing could prepare society for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force.

“Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction,” teases the studio in their Youtube video released during the Super Bowl.

Although it’s called “Independence Day,” this installment will release a little early. The film is set to hit theaters on June 24, 2016.

There will be a mix of returning characters and new characters in this installment. Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch and Vivica A. Fox will be featured in the new installment. Joining them on screen will be Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Sela Ward. The film was directed by Roland Emmerich.
