For the first time ever, CBS will offer affiliates and owned stations in the Pacific and Mountain time zones the option of broadcasting the GRAMMY awards live on Monday, February 15, 2016. This means no more taped-delay, no more spoilers on social-media and no more waiting for millions of viewers across the country.
For participating stations in these regions, THE 58TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS, hosted by two-time GRAMMY Award winner LL COOL J will be broadcast live from 5:00-8:30 PM, PT (6:00-9:30 PM, MT) on the CBS Television Network. Stations in the Pacific time zone that air the event live will also rebroadcast the entire GRAMMY awards telecast in primetime immediately following the live presentation.
The GRAMMY awards traditionally ranks as one of the year’s highest-rated broadcasts. Last year’s event averaged 24.8 million viewers. THE 58TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS airs live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Monday, Feb. 15 (8:00-11:30 PM, live ET).
The only downside to this deal is that it will be 5pm when the show starts, not the best time for an evening event on a Monday. Even though the live-broadcast is being offered to affiliates, that doesn’t necessarily mean that all stations will choose the live-versions. Either way, the participating stations that do broadcast the Grammy’s Live this year have a chance to possibly bump their 5pm numbers through the roof over last year.
You will want to check your local listings leading up to the big night to see which stations are airing the Grammy’s live. If you live on the East Coast, take a moment to remember how lucky we all are that we don’t have to worry about this stuff (just mountains of snow). If you need to set a reminder, the Grammy’s will be going live at 8pm on February 15, 2016 on CBS. So be sure to catch all of your favorite stars and performers on the big night.
