Netflix has been setting dates for the video-streaming service’s monumental 2016 lineup all week, today the company confirmed the availability date for “Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday”.
The special event will have Paul Reubens returning to play the iconic character that he made famous in the 1980s. Reubens is bringing Pee-Wee back to Netflix for an all-new original film.
Called “Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday” Netflix confirmed the official premiere date for the new installment to the Pee-Wee franchise, the film will be released on March 18, 2016. Starring in the film will be Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens). This film will have Pee-Wee meeting a stranger by happenstance, which is the catalyst for Pee-Wee to go on his first-ever holiday.
Also appearing in the film are Joe Manganiello, Jessica Pohly, Alia Shawkat and Stephanie Beatriz. The film itself was directed by John Lee.
The film came together through a joint-production between Reubens Judd Apatow, who’s upcoming Netflix series “Love” also received a premiere date this year. As for the film, Paul Rust and Reubens wrote the film together.
Judd Apatow’s “Love” which was created, written and executive produced by Apatow himself, Paul Rust and Lesley Arfin, will premiere in February. The series stars Paul Rust and Gillian Jacobs, Brent Forrester and Dean Holland are attached as executive producers. “LOVE” follows Gus and Mickey as they navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, and other things they were hoping to avoid. Having recently ended their respective dysfunctional relationships, Gus and Mickey meet each other by chance at a convenience store and forge a connection in the mending of their broken hearts and egos.
