It may not be a total surprise that FOX has renewed the comedy-horror series SCREAM QUEENS for a second season, but the network made it official today. The confirmation that popular teen-centered hit was getting another season was announced today by Gary Newman and Dana Walden, Chairmen and CEOs, Fox Television Group.
The show comes from award-winning executive producers Ryan Murphy (“Glee,” “American Horror Story”), Brad Falchuk (“Glee,” “American Horror Story”) and Ian Brennan (“Glee”), Season Two of SCREAM QUEENS graduates from the college campus and into an all-new location, as a terrifyingly funny murder mystery will begin once again. This time, the show will be set in a hospital, where some of the most fascinating and bizarre medical cases are under observation. Casting to be announced at a later date.
SCREAM QUEENS was this season’s No. 1 new comedy among Adults 18-34, the No. 1 new series on VOD. SCREAM QUEENS is from Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The series is created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, who also serve as writers and directors on the series. SCREAM QUEENS is executive-produced by Murphy, Falchuk, Brennan and Alexis Martin Woodall (“American Horror Story: Hotel”).
Also announced today was the renewal of the drama EMPIRE for a third season, that confirmation came from Gary Newman and Dana Walden, Chairmen and CEOs, Fox Television Group.
With 35 nominations, EMPIRE is the most-nominated television series this season, and recently was named a Top 10 Television Program of the Year by the American Film Institute. It was the only broadcast series to earn a Golden Globe Award nomination this year in the category of Best Television Series – Drama. Additionally, Taraji P. Henson won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama. The series also earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.
Cookie, Lucious and the entire Lyon family return with a vengeance when the series airs its Season Two spring premiere Wednesday, March 30 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
