Girls to end after season 6
It looks like “Girls” is ready to say goodbye after season six. The popular comedy, that featured the breakout talents of Lena Dunham and turned her into a household name, will end after the sixth season. As with any series that is nearing the end, prepare for a lot of major moments over the next few weeks and a lot of trailers and teasers over the next year.
The show has been a fantastic success for HBO, as well as for the young cast of actors that have appeared in the series over it’s four season lifespan. The series is set to debut the fifth season in just a weeks, but after this season there will only be one more for fans to enjoy
The move isn’t exactly a surprise, Lena Dunham and HBO execs have hinted that the show will be wrapping up its storyline by end of next year, the show will then push into the series finale next year.
“Girls” has always been an amazing platform for everyone involved, from Dunham’s publishing and television career, Allison Williams’ film and television projects to Adam Driver taking a lead role in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the cast will walk away better off than many of them could have hoped for before they signed on. The show has also been a huge plus for the other stars of the series including, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet.
“Girls” originally hit HBO back in 2012, the show follows the hectic lives of a group of friends as they survive their early 20s in a demanding city.
It was just last year that Dunham herself stated that the show would most likely only run six-seasons on HBO. “I started working on this show when I was 23, and I’m going to be 30 so it kind of feels right that this show kind of sandwiched my 20s, and then I go off into the world,” Dunham previously stated in a radio interview.
At least fans of the show won’t have to wait that long to watch the fifth season premiere on HBO. “Girls” is scheduled to return to HBO and HBOGO on February 21, 2016.
