Fans around the world are celebrating the return of Jack, Samurai Jack that is. Adult Swim confirmed that a new season of the once-popular animated series is coming to TV in 2016.
The network made the announcement earlier today stating simply, Creator and executive producer Genndy Tartakovsky continues the epic story of Samurai Jack with a new season that will premiere on Adult Swim’s Toonami block in 2016.”
The new season is currently in production in Los Angeles at Cartoon Network Studios and the network stopped short of giving an exact premiere date at this time. It’s also unclear if the original cast will voice the characters for the new season. Phil LaMarr, Mako and Kevin Michael Richardson voiced characters in the original series that ran from 2001 through 2004. The series followed a Samurai that was sent through time. The adventures followed the hero as he fought to return home and save the world.
Fans of the series will get to celebrate the return of the series but will have to stay tuned to know when the new season will air on Adult Swim. The network will be confirming the full-lineup of Adult Swim’s Toonami block for the 2016 seasons as different projects move further along into production.
