AMC premieres “Preacher” trailer on The Walking Dead

AMCAMC

As promised earlier this week, AMC has released the first trailer for “Preacher,” a new series set to release in 2016. The trailer was teased earlier this evening but the official trailer was released during “The Walking Dead” episode. You can watch the video that was released today thanks to an upload via AMC on the network’s official YouTube channel.

Based on the twisted and popular ‘90s comic book franchise of the same name, “Preacher,” created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God.

The Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios co-production was developed for television by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg (“This Is the End,” “Superbad,” “Neighbors”) and showrunner Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”). The series is set to premiere mid-2016.

More information on the new season, including casting and an exact date for the series premiere is expected to be confirmed over the next few weeks. Until then, you can rewatch the trailer for clues and expect Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to tease the hell out of the new series leading up to the release date.
