New Apple TV available for pre-order starting at $149
Earlier this fall Apple announced the new Apple TV, a long-awaited upgrade over the previous version starting with a 32GB version at $149. There will also be 64GB option priced at $199, not of which are available for pre-order and expected to start shipping out by the end of the week.
“There has been so much innovation in entertainment and programming through iOS apps, we want to bring that same excitement to the television,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services during the Apple TV’s announcement. “Apps make the TV experience even more compelling for viewers and we think apps represent the future of TV.”
Among the many updates to the Apple TV, the new Apple TV’s remote will feature Siri. This will allow users to search with their voice for TV shows and movies across multiple content providers simultaneously. The new Apple TV runs the all-new tvOS operating system, and the new remote offers a glass touch surface. Using Siri users can ask Apple TV to search iTunes, Netflix, Hulu, HBO and Showtime. Siri also offers playback control and on-screen navigation, as well as quick access to sports, stock and weather information.
The Apple TV will be made available at participating retailers and on the official Apple website at Apple.com.
