Mythbusters will end next season

The Mythbusters will be hanging up their testing gear, ballistic gel and Buster the doomed crash-testing dummy by the end of next season. The Discover Channel has reportedly made the decision to cancel the long-running series due to low viewership.

EW was one of the first online sources to report the cancellation. The show has been a consistent series on the Discovery channel since it was first introduced back in 2003. In fact, Mythbusters is the longest-running series that Discovery has ever aired.

With close to 3,000 experiments behind them, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman will split-ways and go about their lives as prop-enthusiasts and consultants. The final episode will most likely be one of the most explosive events that the duo have ever brought forth but Discovery hasn’t made any official announcements at this time.

The show made the decision to cut the three co-hosts of the show, most likely in an effort to save money, last year. The three co-hosts included Grant Imahara, Kari Byron and Tory Belleci. Now with just the two original Mythbusters left, it seems there are no other tricks for Discovery to test.

More information on the final season and the explosive final episode are sure to be announced over the next few months. Leading up to the event you can expect a large amount of marketing from the Discovery Channel as they wrap-up their once great series.
