Ever since the SHIELD TV launched, Nvidia has been keeping up with a fairly steady stream of new titles every few weeks. While we still have a bit of time before the heavy hitters like Borderlands 2 and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance drop, in the meantime we can occupy ourselves with games like Half Life 2 and The Talos Principle.
This week sees the release of two more games; Contrast ($14.99) and Pix the Cat ($9.99). “Contrast is a puzzle/platform game where you can move between a fantastic 3D world and a mysterious shadowy universe in 2D in the blink of an eye. Delve into a dreamlike and surreal 1920s world, inspired by the performance art world of vaudeville and film noir, and cradled by a smooth and sultry jazz ambiance.
In this universe, where the boundaries between showmanship, magic, intrigue and deception are blurred, you play Dawn, the imaginary friend of a young girl named Didi. You have the power to slip from the 3D dreamscape into the parallel 2D shadow world bound to it. Cast light on a shadowy story by manipulating light sources in the 3D world to distort, enlarge or stretch the 2D shadow world. Manipulating and shifting between light and shadow will be the key elements that you will need to use to solve our world of shadow-based puzzles and help progress Didi’s story!”
“In Pix the Cat, you are Pix, the first cat in the world to play his own game! Specifically optimized for the NVIDIA SHIELD, rule the living room with unmatched graphic quality and ultimate frame rate, progress in the Grid of Infinity, deeper and deeper through its nested levels. Benefit from the best user experience with a SHIELD controller and avoid hitting walls and obstacles at all costs! Hatch the eggs to stack up ducklings behind you. Drop them off at target circles to set them free. Still with me?
In the Arcade mode, make your way through the flashy digital levels, pulsing to a galvanizing groove that won’t fail to make your heart skip a beat or two! With art that feels dug up from an old attic, the Nostalgia mode is an adventure oozing with surprises! Each of the 70 levels offers a new skill challenge and yet another blister under your thumb! In the Laboratory, your results are measured by your number of moves. Keep them minimal while dodging dangers to collect the bonus stamp! Finally, joust against your friends in the local battle mode hosting up to four PixBots!”
Both games launch today and are available through the Google Play Store. Pick up your copy of Contrast and Pix the Cat today.
