Carly Rae Jepsen to play Frenchy of the Pink Ladies for FOX’s Grease Live
FOX is still rounding-out the final casting-calls for the network’s planned “Grease: Live” event and the latest addition to the cast is pop-singer Carly Rae Jepsen.
FOX confirmed today that Carly Rae Jepsen, the young girl that took over the music-charts with her hit “Call me Maybe,” will be playing the role of Frenchy when the “Grease: Live” TV special airs early next year.
The network has also cast Kether Donohue (“You’re The Worst”) as her friend Jan, and David Del Rio (“Spare Parts”) as T-Bird Putzie, more castings are expected to be announced over the next few weeks.
It was also reported that Jessie J will open the live event with a performance of a brand-new version of “Grease” to get things started. Choreographer Zach Woodlee (“Glee”) has joined executive producer Marc Platt‘s creative team behind the project.
So far the cast-list reads Julianne Hough (“Safe Haven”) as the lovable Sandy, Aaron Tveit (“Graceland”) as heartthrob Danny, Vanessa Hudgens (“Spring Breakers”) as Rizzo, Carlos PenaVega (“Spare Parts”) as Kenickie and Keke Palmer (“Scream Queens”) as Marty.
Airing LIVE Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 (7:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX, GREASE: LIVE will be executive-produced by acclaimed film, television and theater producer Marc Platt. GREASE: LIVE is based on the original musical “Grease” by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, and Paramount Pictures’ 1978 feature adaptation. It will be a Paramount Television production.
