Vanessa Williams joins “The Good Wife” season 7 on CBS

CBS has confirmed that Vanessa Williams will join the critically acclaimed drama THE GOOD WIFE in a recurring role this November. Williams will play Courtney Boalt, an extremely successful, self-made businesswoman who is potentially interested in backing Peter Florrick’s (Chris Noth) campaign for President. In the process, she meets Eli Gold (Alan Cumming), sparking a mutual attraction.

“There are very few names you can put side-by-side that make you laugh,” said Executive Producers Robert and Michelle King. “Alan Cumming and Vanessa Williams are at the top of that list. We couldn’t be more excited.”

Vanessa Williams is one of the most respected and multi-faceted performers in the entertainment industry today. Having sold more than 25 million records worldwide, Vanessa is one of just a few artists to score #1 and Top 10 hits on Billboard’s Album and Singles charts in the combined areas of Pop, Dance, R&B, Adult Contemporary, Holiday, Latin, Gospel and Jazz.

Williams’ critically acclaimed work in film, television, music and the Broadway stage has been recognized by every major industry award affiliation, including four Emmy Award nominations, 17 Grammy nominations (of which 11 were for her individually), a Tony nomination, three SAG Award nominations, seven NAACP Image Awards, three Satellite Awards, and Golden Globe, Grammy and Academy Awards for Best Original Song for her platinum single “Colors of the Wind,” from the Disney movie “Pocahontas.”

Vanessa returned to Broadway in the spring of 2014 for a special limited engagement in the musical “After Midnight.” Previously, she co-starred with Cicely Tyson and Cuba Gooding, Jr. in “The Trip To Bountiful” during the 2013 Broadway season. Her autobiography, You Have No Idea, co-written with her mother, Helen Williams, was a New York Times bestseller in 2012.

THE GOOD WIFE returns for its seventh season Sunday, Oct. 4 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network.

THE GOOD WIFE stars Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski, Matt Czuchry, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Alan Cumming, Zach Grenier and Cush Jumbo. It is produced by Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions in association with CBS Television Studios. Ridley Scott, Robert King, Michelle King, Brooke Kennedy, David W. Zucker, Leonard Dick and Craig Turk are executive producers.
