It has been a long-road for ‘Cooties,’ a fantastic horror-comedy that first hit the film-festival circuit back in 2014. The film has a terrific cast including Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson and Alison Pill who discuss their characters in the film in the clips below.
Joining them on-screen are Jack McBrayer, Leigh Whannell, Nasim Pedrad Ian Brennan and Jorge Garcia. Lionsgate picked-up the film last year, the project will hit theaters and on-demand on September 18, 2015.
Leigh Whannell (co-writer of Saw and the writer of Insidious) and Ian Brennan (co-creator of “Glee”) brought the film to life on paper, the story of Cooties begins when a cafeteria food virus turns elementary school children into little killer savages.
In an attempt to stay alive, a group of misfit teachers must band together to escape the playground carnage. Soon Elijah Wood (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Lord of the Rings trilogy), Rainn Wilson (“The Office”), and Alison Pill (“The Newsroom”) are fighting to survive the mayhem, all the while hilariously bickering in an uncomfortable love triangle on the worst Monday of their lives.
The Sundance hit Cooties will be one of the debut releases of the newly-launched Lionsgate Premiere label, which will release the film on September 18th in select theaters and On Demand.
Jonathan Milott & Cary Murnion directed the film together, working off a screenplay by Ian Brennan, Leigh Whannell and Josh C. Waller. Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller, Elijah Wood, Tove Christensen, Georgy Malkov and Steven Schneider produced the film with Ian Brennan, Leigh Whannell, Gevond Andreasyan, Sarik Andreasyan, Hayden Christensen, Seth William Meier and Vladmir Poliakov serving as executive producers.
