Neighbors 2 adds Selena Gomez to cast
Selena Gomez fans will get to see the starlet in another summer-comedy next year, Universal Pictures has added Gomez to the upcoming sequel “Neighbors 2”. The film is a follow-up the 2014 hit starring Seth Rogen and Zac Efron.
It was back in 2012 that Gomez starred in the popular summer-comedy “Spring Breakers,” that film also starred Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and featured James Franco.
In “Neighbors 2” Gomez will be sharing the screen with returning stars Seth Rogen and Zac Efron. Also coming back to the cast is Rose Byrne, and Nicholas Stoller will return as the film’s director. Also appearing in the film will be Chloe Moretz.
The first “Neighbors” did amazingly well for the studio, pulling in almost $270M for Universal when it was released a little over three years ago.
In the first film a couple and their newborn baby are thrown for a loop when they are forced to live next to a fraternity house. The couple team-up to take the house down when things go awry and their plans backfire.
Universal hasn’t released the official plot of the new film, but the going rumor is that the frat-house from the first film will be replaced by a sorority house.
Producing the film are Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver. Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien are attached as executive producers along with Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake.
Universal has set “Neighbors 2” to hit theaters on May 20, 2016.
