Carrie Underwood and 11 NFL stars make-up the new NFL Sunday Night theme
Carrie Underwood has been on a roll these past few weeks, all leading up to the release of her new single “Smoke Break” from Carrie’s upcoming album called “Storyteller“. That album will be available October 23rd worldwide but before that, Underwood will star in the new SNF opening theme with a few famous NFL friends.
In the new opener, 11 NFL players will join the seven-time Grammy Award-winner for the “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” opening theme. During the shoot Clay Matthews joked, “The fact that I’ve been invited four times to come back is truly an honor. I must be great on camera, or I live close by.”
Fans should set a reminder for Carrie, she is set to visit The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, September 10 to show a sneak peek of the opening theme and will also perform her new single “Smoke Break.”
Andrew Luck said, “I did not know I would be doing this shoot with Carrie, so, it was a bit of a surprise. I guess the cameras are rolling!” “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” is set to the original Joan Jett song, “I Hate Myself for Loving You.”
After performing the opening theme for the past two seasons and Super Bowl XLIX, Underwood returns in 2015 beginning with NBC’s first SNF broadcast of the 2015 NFL season as the defending NFC East champion Dallas Cowboys host the New York Giants. Coverage begins with Football Night in America at 7 p.m. ET, and the opening theme continues each week of the season to kick off Sunday Night Football.
The 11 NFL players include New York Giants WR Odell Beckham, Jr., Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant, Seattle Seahawks S Kam Chancellor, San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck, Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews and Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray.
They will be joined by Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson, Denver Broncos DE DeMarcus Ware, Houston Texans DE J.J. Watt and Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson.
Carrie Underwood was the 2005 American Idol winner before becoming a multi-media superstar. Underwood is a seven-time GRAMMY Award winner, she has amassed nearly 100 major honors, sold more than 56 million records worldwide, and recorded 21 #1 singles, 11 of which she co-wrote.

In late 2014, the Grand Ole Opry member released her first hits collection, Greatest Hits: Decade #1. Celebrating her first 10 years of music, the 25 songs included two new hits co-written by Underwood: the Platinum-certified, GRAMMY-winning “Something in the Water,” as well as the #1 smash “Little Toy Guns.”
On November 4, she’ll return for an eighth consecutive year as co-host of the CMA Awards. Underwood is currently working on new music for her fifth studio album.
