The 2016 Miss America Competition to air in September

Get your wine, pick your favorite date (April 25th of course) and your political observations of war-torn countries in order, the Miss America competition now has an airdate.

ABC will celebrate the 95th anniversary of “The 2016 Miss America Competition” when the special-event returns to Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 (9:00–11:00 p.m., ET). The event will air on ABC. The evening will be filled with glitz and glam when 52 women representing their home states and territories compete to bring home the crown.

“The 2016 Miss America Competition” is the culmination of a 13 day event following Labor Day weekend that includes three nights of Preliminary Competitions and a week of events including the much anticipated “Show Us Your Shoes Parade” that will be held on the famed Atlantic City Boardwalk on Saturday, September 12.

The event is part of the Miss America Organization, which is a 501(c) 4 non-profit corporation, that company says, “provides millions of dollars in annual college scholarship assistance.” The program is also the largest scholarship program for women in the United States.

MAO is comprised of 52 licensed organizations which include all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. MAO contestants contribute over 500,000 hours of community service annually and have raised over $10 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 2007.

Dick Clark productions and the Miss America Organization will collaborate on all creative, marketing, sponsorship, licensing, ticketing and distribution elements of this year’s show. Tony Eaton and Tall Pony Productions will produce “The 2016 Miss America Competition.”
