CW’s hit series “The Flash” has signed “Insurgent” star Keiynan Lonsdale in the role of Kid Flash. The casting announcement was made earlier this week by the network.

Not only will Keiynan Lonsdale be joining the series as a popular DC character, he will be a regular addition to the second season cast. Fans of Lonsdale can expect to see the actor make his first appearance later this year, Wally West will eventually become Kid Flash.

If the show follows the comics, then Wally West will be related to Iris West, who is played by Candice Patton on the series. In the show Grant Gustin stars as Barry Allen/The Flash, Tom Cavanagh is playing the role of Reverse-Flash and Teddy Sears is playing original Flash Jay Garrick. You can expect them to appear in Season 2 as well.

“Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero,” said “The Flash” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg in a statement to the press. “We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.”

Fans can currently watch Lonsdale plays Uriah in the “Divergent” series which stars the extreamly popular actor Shailene Woodley. Keiynan Lonsdale will also star in the Disney Coast Guard drama “The Finest Hours.” As for The Flash, the series is set to return for Season 2 on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
