Colin Farrell joins Fantastic Beasts cast

A handsome new addition to J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter spinoff “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” was reported this week. Colin Farrell’s name has been added to the growing list of mysterious wizards that will be featured in the film.

The film will tell the story Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne), the famed writer of the Hogwarts textbook that the film is named after.

In the film Farrell will play the wizard Graves, In the film Scamander meets Graves when he travels to New York. Farrell is currently starring in HBO’s popular series “True Detective”.

Previous cast announcements for the film include Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Katherine Waterston “‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” Rowling said in a statement released to fans and the press last year. “The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.”

Directing the highly-anticipated film will be David Yates, the same man that directed the final four Potter films. Warner Bros. Pictures will release “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” in theaters on November 18, 2016.
