Deadpool trailer releases three minutes of mayhem
The long-wait for the “Deadpool” trailer is finally over. Late Tuesday night on “Conan” the trailer debuted as promised. To get the trailer to air in its uncut “red-band” form, the episode of Conan had to be rated TV-MA, a first for the series.
The Marvel Comics antihero did not disappoint fans however, the three minute video is the best look yet at the upcoming film starring Ryan Reynolds. In the video Deadpool offers viewers a lot of one-liners and even more violence and mayhem, but if you are a fan of the comic you probably already expected that in the trailer.
Reynolds character in the film is Wade Wilson, and before he became Deadpool Wilson was dying. “We can give you abilities most men only dream of, we can make you a superhero,” a Doctor tells Wade in the trailer. “Just make sure you do right by me, so I can do right by somebody else,” Wade responded. “And just don’t make my suit green — or animated!” A clever jab at Reynolds’ bombed attempt at reviving the Green Lantern franchise.
In another scene Wade Wilson quips, “You may wonder why I am wearing a red suit — it’s so the bad guys can’t see me bleed,” adding, “This guy has the right idea, he’s wearing the brown pants.”
The film is based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Joining Ryan Reynolds in the film are Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano and Brianna Hildebrand. The film was Tim Miller and produced by Simon Kinberg, Reynolds and Lauren Shuler Donner.
Fans of the X-MEN franchise might remember that Reynolds played Wade Wilson (before he became the iconic and violent anti-hero Deadpool) back in the 2009 film “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”
