Mission Impossible Rogue Nation grabs $56M at the box-office
The Mission: Impossible franchise launched another installment for action-fans to enjoy this weekend, Tom Cruise and his crew show no signs of slowing down at the box-office as they take the top-spot on the charts.
The latest installment, called “Rogue Nation,” debuted at number-one at the box-office charts, earning an estimated $56M domestically. Paramount Pictures released the film in an estimated 3,956 locations over the busy weekend.
In the film Ethan and his team take on the Syndicate, an international rogue organization committed to destroying the IMF. Christopher McQuarrie directed the film and wrote the screenplay. Mission Impossible Rogue Nation stars Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner
Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Vacation” reboot reached a distant second-place with $14.8M overall. The film debuted this week to an estimated 3,411 locations, “Vacation” now sits at $21.2M since its release. The film was directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein and stars Ed Helms, Christina Applegate and Skyler Gisondo.
Disney’s “Ant-Man” film earned an additional $12.6M at the box-office, reaching third-place overall on the box-office charts. The film stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Corey Stoll and has earned an estimated $132M domestically since its debut earlier this summer.
The animated-comedy “Minions” from Universal Pictures took fourth-place this week with $12.2M across the country. The film features the voice talents of Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm and Michael Keaton. “Minions” has now earned over $287.3M domestically since it was released.
Rounding-out the top-five this week was “Pixels” from Sony Pictures with $10.4M. The film, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Michelle Monaghan, has now earned only $45.6M domestically since it was released.
