Bret McKenzie added to Disney’s Bob the Musical

One-half of “Flight of the Conchords” has been recruited for Disney’s upcoming musical-comedy called “Bob: The Musical.”

It was reported today from multiple sources that popular actor/singer/songwriter Bret McKenzie will join author Michael Chabon in the upcoming production from Walt Disney Studios. McKenzie is expected to write music for the comedy.

McKenzie may be best known for his band “Flight of the Conchords,” HBO also created a series of the same name in which Bret and Jemaine Clement played themselves. McKenzie and Clement won a Grammy for their Flight of the Conchords comedy album.

Fans may also remember that Bret is an Academy Award winner, he won an Oscar for writing the Muppets song ‘Man or Muppet’ for the “The Muppets Movie.”

“Bob: The Musical” follows a man that can suddenly hear the inner-monologues (set to song) in everyone’s head, a gift that he suddenly develops after being struck on the head himself.

Chris Bender, JC Spink, Beau Flynn, Tripp Vinson and Jennifer Gibgot are procuring the film, which Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist) will direct.
