Brie Larson joins Tom Hiddleston in Kong Skull Island
Another terrific actor will be joining Tom Hiddleston on Skull Island in 2017. Legendary films has added Brie Larson to the cast of “Kong: Skull Island,” a new film that will once again reboot the King Kong storyline with an origin piece.
Tom Hiddleston was one of the first castings confirmed for the project, that announcement was made last year. The most recent casting new that was reported came earlier this month when it was confirmed that J.K. Simons left the project entirely. His role has not been replaced at this time.
Directing Hiddleston and Larson in the Kong film will be Jordan Vogt-Roberts. While the film is set to introduce Kong to a new generation of moviegoers, this film will center more on Skull Island itself, the island’s unique backstory and what created the gigantic gorilla.
Max Bernstein of “Godzilla” wrote the original treatment to the film, Tony Gilroy finished the script earlier this year. Mary Parent, Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing the film for the studio.
You can expect to hear a few more casting announcements, including who will be replacing J.K. Simons, as well an outlined production schedule to be announced over the next few months.
“Kong: Skull Island” is scheduled to hit theaters on March 10, 2017.
