Miley Cyrus will host the MTV VMAs this year

Pop-culture blockbuster Miley Cyrus is coming back to the VMAs this year but Cyrus won’t be promoting a new album, instead she will be taking over hosting duties for the event.

The MTV’s Video Music Awards are set to premiere later this summer on the network, they tend to do very well in their key demos and is one of the major events that MTV hosts all year.

Miley Cyrus made the announcement on Twitter while wearing a green-man chroma suit. The performer Tweeted “F— yeah VMAs!!!!! #VMAs on @MTV Aug 30 at 9pm,” while wearing two sandwich boards that read, “MTV WON’T LET ME PERFORM” then the second image teased, “SO I’M HOSTING THIS YEAR’S VMAS!”

As for the official VMA nominations, those will be released on Tuesday. Fans might remember Cyrus’ 2013 VMA attendance, it was the talk of the town for weeks afterwards. Cyrus was on stage with Robin Thicke dancing with a foam-finger to the songs “We Can’t Stop” and “Blurred Lines.”

Last year Cyrus won the video of the year award for “Wrecking Ball.” You might also remember that she brought a young homeless-man as her date.

MTV did not have a host last year, instead they went with presenters for each award with no introductions. I guess things didn’t go over that well, because this year the host is more outlandish than ever. If you want to catch the 2015 VMAs the will air on August 30 on MTV.
