Michael Cera will voice Robin in Lego Batman film

Popular indie-actor and former star of ‘Arrested Development,’ Michael Cera, will be taking-up a new role in the planned “Lego Batman” film. Cera is joining the cast as the voice of the boy-wonder.

The film, called “Lego Batman” for now, is a spin-off of the popular animated blockbuster “The Lego Movie.” In the new project Michael Cera will be voicing the role of Robin, sidekick to Batman himself. Batman of course was one of the most popular characters in the first installment.

Fans of the “Lego Movie” know that Robin wasn’t part of the original “Lego Movie,” but Batman (voiced by a hilarious Will Arnett) certainly was. Don’t worry Lego fans, Arnett has already signed on to return as the voice of Batman for the spinoff.

Both Michael Cera and Will Arnett starred in the original comedy “Arrested Development,” both as key members of the Bluth family.

The new “Lego Batman” is scheduled to hit theaters on February 10, 2017, so you still have another year to wait unfortunately. Producing the film are Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

Chris McKay is directing this installment to the growing franchise, he was the animation supervisor on “The Lego Movie.” Seth Grahame-Smith wrote the script for the film.
